In the realm of photography, I’ve always been an all-or-nothing kind of person. There are times when I dedicate countless hours to honing my skills, while at other moments, I may go two months without touching my regular camera.
However, the allure of autumn never fails to captivate me. The vibrant colors, crisp air, and overall enchantment of the season always reignite my passion.
Just yesterday, I awoke early to capture the beauty of Stockholm. The weather forecast had predicted a splendid morning, and they were spot-on! It was truly breathtaking.
This last weekend we had marvelous weather here in Sweden. Blue Skies, 12-16 degrees and bright autumn colors everywhere. Unfortunately there seems to be some problem with my camera at the moment, so I only got out a few that I think came out well.
“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
― Lauren DeStefano, Wither
I think we’re just a few days away from the best autumn days, in terms of Photography. Some of the leaves has started to get those amazing colors, but soon the forest will be full of red, green, blue, yellow and so on.
This is a photo I took last year, just a few weeks after this point.
Ever since I started this blog I’ve been portraying autumn. In my opinion the best season of all if you’re into Photography. In Sweden it’s one of the warmest start of September, ever.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman
Today is my birthday and I’m trying to start a new tradition. Getting up early and the take a long walk together with my camera. This is the first photo from that walk.
Yesterday I were in Norrtälje, together with some friends. On our way there, we walked along this road, and this view, with the trees that’s preparing themselves for Winter, the road and the small typical Swedish houses was amazing. Really looking forward to best time of the year when it comes to photography, the autumn.
On top of the photo I’ve added some filters, and then added the “painting like” effect.
This weekend has been all about crayfish party, both Friday and Saturday evening. Yesterday we stayed at a friend’s house in the archipelago and this photo was taken at the sunset. I really appreciate autumn, and I’m already looking forward to all those colors that we will have all around us very soon.
This clip really put many good parts together. Driving a car (1), in high speed (2) through a beautiful autumn (3) forest (4), and recording it with a camera (5).
I’ve always enjoyed my own photos quite dark, and today I found an artist / photographer who had taken “the dark” a few steps further with some beautiful photos, Brooke Pennington.
I really like the tone and the atmosphere in his photos.

I think Autumn has a special purpose in terms of reflection. The autumn isn’t always sunny, warm or cozy but it gives us time to breath and reflect. To stop, and listen to where we are, what we are, where we’re going and maybe serve as our yearly soul examination.
Soon the “bright white winter, the alpine season, the long walks in snow-season” will be here…
Yesterday, our small harbor had its closing time for the year which means that the club is closing down and start to prepare for the winter. Since the seasons in Sweden are pretty sharp, in the sense that we really have them all, this also comes with a meaning, that the winter is soon here.
While cleaning up I took a few pictures.
I hope you all have a great start of your working week
Yesterday I made a short trip to Ekerö, a small island west of Stockholm City. On my way back I made a stop at the royal castle Drottningholm, which is typically amazing this time of the year.
As the readers of this blog might know from last year, I truly enjoy this season of the year; the Autumn.
Here in Sweden the autumn is really getting a grip of mother nature. The nature is in it’s most beautiful state, on the other hand the days are shorter, and the winds are getting chillier for each day, but maybe the Swedish society is starting to getting warmer?
The last months we’ve had some debate in Sweden regarding our responsibility as citizens to help other people out when something have happened to them. The debate here in Sweden started after a guy fell down on a subway track and a few minutes later was robbed (!!), lying there helpless. The robber took his cell phone and wallet and let him be run over by the subway train. Totally unbelievable! For those who wonder what happened to him; he amazingly survived!
After this I’ve really started to see a change in Sweden. For those of you who have followed this blog, you know that this is a close topic for me, and I guess for all the people that moves from smaller cities to larger ones since the difference in anonymity is huge. (Previous posts here: https://saarimner.com/category/about-personal-thoughts/)
Today, while I was out buying some fresh bread for breakfast, preparing for the Korean F1-race, I noticed three cars that had stopped to help a woman lying on the side of the road, and I guess there were like 10 people helping the woman out! It may sound strange to reflect on this, but I actually think that positive things start to happen, and maybe the story about the man on the subway track was a start for something new? Last week Swedish police (yes, the Swedish Police posts things on Facebook 🙂 ) also posted a story about a woman who have helped a helpless man against two young robbers, and she was all over the news the next day.
Can all these events be start of something new? A warmer and more caring society as a whole? As I always state my political view as naive, I will keep on believing that we one day will have that great society where everyone is seen.
My favorite time of the year is here, the autumn. The colors are all there, the air is crisp and (at least I) have no expectations other than to be right here, right now.
Today I took a walk in one of Stockholms hidden treasures Bergianska Trädgården (just north of Stockholm for those who haven’t been there)…. what a great place to spend an afternoon!
This is the first real week in Stockholm with “full spring”. In Sweden this is some amazing days. It seems like everyone just un-freezes from the Winter and there are happy people all around.
What’s also really amazing when spring arrives (as in the autumn) is the lighting conditions for photo. I can’t exactly tell you what it is but I think it get’s so much easier to get good shots, even with an iPhone-camera, so I’ve been quite busy taking pics during the days this week.
First of is a pic of Kungsgatan two days ago during lunch hour. What I like with this view is that there are very few who takes any pictures here (maybe it’s due to looking silly on a shopping street.. I don’t know 🙂 ) while I think this view holds one of Stockholm’s nicest views of great architecture.
This pic is taken with HDR and then adjusted with Photo Toaster to get a touch of an older look.
With a sun set high, and skies as blue as a typical Swedes eyes, we went out on our golf journey last wednesday (as I posted a few days ago). But.. suddenly the weather changed and a really thick fog made it’s entrance over the golf course. If you, like me, enjoy both golf and Photo this is just an amazing opportunity and I actually enjoy the photos more from the afternoon than from earlier on during the day.
After a busy weekend where I almost haven’t had the time to hardly sit down, Sunday was all the opposite. Took a walk at one of Stockholms Castles, Drottningsholms Slott. Unfortunately in the amazing weather I forgot my DSLR, but I took a number of pictures anyway with my phone.
Hope you all have a great ending of this (at least in Sweden) beautiful weekend!
