Music: John Newman – Tribute

★★★★☆☆ John Newman – Tribute (2013)

In Sweden we have an artist by the name Amanda Jensen, and I guess if John Newman and Amanda ever meet it will be  a “crispy” conversation in terms of voices. Their voices are quite similar with a hoarse sound, and the music is quite similar too.

This new album, called Tribute, is a good one. I really like every song, but there is something missing. Don’t know exactly what. Maybe I could describe it as “singing with feeling for a guy that haven’t experienced so much yet”?

If you haven’t heard it, check it out. I’ll include a track by Amanda Jensen at the bottom of the post.

Be Brave!

This is  a repost, but I think this quote is helpful when I sometimes face tough decisions.

It’s so easy to worry for things that are out of our control. Today many people worry about the new economic times, some are worrying about their kids and maybe some are walking away from great new possibilities –  a great new life, just because of worry.

I think this quote is good to think about when I’m struggling with a decision, both in my personal and professional life, or just being in a worrying mode.

“If you want to test your memory, try to recall what you were worrying about one year ago today.”
– E. Joseph Cossman

Autumn Photos – Last time?

This last weekend we had marvelous weather here in Sweden. Blue Skies, 12-16 degrees and bright autumn colors everywhere. Unfortunately there seems to be some problem with my camera at the moment, so I only got out a few that I think came out well.

I hope you all get a great start of the week.

A thought about leadership

20131009-094948.jpg
One thought about leadership, being an employer and sales.

When you truly understand the needs of your customers and employees, and deliver that and a little extra, you won’t need marketing.

At least not anywhere near as much as if you don’t.

So an open mind, a listening ear and a warm heart may cut your “marketing costs”?

Music For Weekend Mornings

Recently I’ve started to create Spotify-lists according to the days of the week. This morning I’ve put together some tracks that I think suits perfect for an autumn Saturday morning.

I think most of these tracks would suit perfect as movie soundtracks, with a typical atmosphere in each one of them

I hope you enjoy.

Best wishes for the weekend

Story for the weekend – A Clever Dog

A story for the weekend

A Clever Dog

Author Unknown

A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he saw a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again.

So, he goes over to the dog and notices he has a note in his mouth. He takes the note and it reads “Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please. The dog has money in his mouth, as well.”

The butcher looks inside and, lo and behold, there is a ten dollar Note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog’s mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it’s about closing time, he decides to shut up shop and follow the dog.

So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street when he comes To a level crossing.

The dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then he waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and he walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way.

The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable.

The butcher is in awe at this stage. The dog checks out the times, and then sits on one of the seats provided. Along comes a bus. The dog walks around to the front, looks at the number, and goes back to his seat.

Another bus comes. Again the dog goes and looks at the number, notices it’s the right bus, and climbs on. The butcher, by now, open-mouthed, follows him onto the bus.

The bus travels through the town and out into the suburbs, the dog Looking at the scenery. Eventually he gets up, and moves to the front of the bus. He stands on 2 back paws and pushes the button to stop the bus. Then he gets off, his groceries still in his mouth.

Well, dog and butcher are walking along the road, and then the dog turns into a house. He walks up the path, and drops the groceries on the step.

Then he walks back down the path, takes a big run, and throws himself against the door. He goes back down the path, runs up to the door and again, it throws himself against it. There’s no answer at the house, so the dog goes back down the path, jumps up on a narrow wall, and walks along the perimeter of the garden. He gets to the window, and beats his head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door.

The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him.

The butcher runs up, and stops the guy. “What in heaven’s name are You doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!” to which the guy responds: “You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog’s forgotten his key.”

Free iPhone photo app review – Vintage

This is quite traditional filter-app The difference between this and most of the current filter-apps may be that there are fewer filters to use, and filters that are the opposite of subtle.

I’m not the biggest fan of using filters, but when I use them I want to use them in a way that it really shows that filter’s been used. With that said, this app contains some really nice ones, if you like to use filters.

If you download the free app you’ll have to live with some ads, but I don’t think that they are too annoying.

The test photo is a photo I took with my iPhone 5. Below it, you’ll find the same photo after the Vintage app is used, and at the bottom you’ll find two screen shots.

Sometimes a photo really tells more than a thousand words

Earlier tonight I browsed through a list of “photos that will warm your heart”, and photo really caught me as one of those photos you’ll never forget. The photo shows a terminally ill mother watching her daughter’s wedding over Skype.

One of the most telling photos I’ve ever seen

One of the best new features in iOS7 – a well kept secret?

This may not come out as a new “sexy”, hot feature in the new iOS, but I think it’s one of the best; the possibility to use several networks at the same time – Multipath TCP.

Before Multipath TCP you could experience a lost internet connection when you were connected to internet through WiFi, and the connection suddenly went down. All traffic on the phone also went down, instead of just using 3G/4G. This is now possible. If the WIFI-connections goes down, the phone will  seamlessly use the fastest connection instead, of the lost WiFi-connection. Great improvement!

I guess this will result in more mobile traffic, but the user experience will improve significantly.
