A letter to myself

Prewords: This will not be my most “manly” post in this blog, and I’ve reflected so much about if I should post it or not, and I guess if you aren’t or haven’t recently been in some kind of crisis these words may sound silly, but for me they’ve been extremely important so I decided to post them anyway and I sincerely hope that they can be of comfort to more than me.

Post: Last year I went through some hard times and I often reflected about how hard it was for those around me to know how to act. Should they call? Is it okay to laugh? Is it okay to ask how I feel and so on…

At the same time there was a battle inside me where thoughts like “Is it really okay to smile and be happy when I shouldn’t be?”, “Will I be this down and out forever”? So I decided to write some words to myself, to keep me on the straight line on the days when things were rough, to know that it’ll get better; and for the days when I felt that “Now I’ve passed this test”, some words to lessen the bounce when I bounced back and also give myself some slack to “just be”.

And if you are in the middle of some kind of crisis, remember that it’ll take time, It will never go over, but it will get easier and the days between when you feel weak will be more and more rare. So, hang in there, life’s beautiful, and things will change and you’ll soon laugh out loud for some ever reason that you won’t even know today.

I will also take this opportunity to thank all those around me, both friends, family and colleagues for the support on those days when things aren’t the best, and for sharing my laughs and craziness when things are up :)

    /Henrik

  4. Well, I hope you’re through the worst of it and that your future is bright… best of luck.

  5. You are a positive soul! Glad that you have a positive way to look back the path and now to share your thoughts with us! It’s not the most “manly” post, but for sure it’s one of the most valuable post! You’re awesome! Life experiences are making us stronger and making us to see the world beyond all the surfaces, and to grow up, and to reach to a higher level of self to understand the world in a very different way!

  6. Absolutely lovely. Elegant, simple and true. Your post is indeed very manly, takes a lot of brawn and muscle to get the guts to post something so close and personal. You did it well. I’m sure this will console and inspire many others in time. I hope you are back on track. Life can throw you some curve balls at times, they knock you right off your feet, but we always seem to find our way back up again.

P.S – add a couple of football scores, a picture of beer and a pair of breasts and it should balance the post out if you are still concerned :)

    • Thank you for that wonderful comment! I’m definitely back on track, and writing this post proves that to myself.
I know that my word “manly” was a little bit of topic, but I’m still quite new to this blogging world where you share your feelings and thoughts this way, and every time I do, it’s a struggle. :) But I guess it’s like everything, keep on doing it and it’ll get easier
      P.S Hahaha… Will do :) D.S

  7. Such meaningful words – really beautiful. When things like this are noted down – whether typed on a computer or written on paper – the spirit feels a little lighter. It’s an inspiring post Pedro :)

    • Thank you so much Marina!
I’m not sure if those words will be of use for anyone else, but for me they were the guiding lights at that period, and it would be awesome if they would mean something for someone else :) Once again, thank you.
